Just a ten-minute drive from the world famous Keukenhof Gardens, our secluded home, surrounded by colourful tulip fields, can be found in serene and beautiful countryside on the outskirts of Noordwijk. Our stunning sand dunes and local beach are only a short walk or bike ride away, whilst the heart of Noordwijk, with its beachfront cafes and restaurants lies within 6 km; the local shopping centre of Noordwijkerhout is approx 3 km.
We will be happy to book bicycles for you and can offer tailor-made cycling tours to enable you to explore our local countryside and sand dunes. We can also offer guided tours through the dunes by your host, an experienced countryside and wildlife photographer. Our chicken are happy to compleet your breakfast with an egg.

Ruhige und doch zentrale Lage, Gaststätten sind gut zu Fuss erreichbar. Parken kann man direkt auf dem Grundstück. Sehr nette und hilfsbereite Gastgeber, man fühlt sich gleich wie zuhause. Toll ist das "eigene" Gärtchen direkt vor der Tür; die Einrichtung ist liebevoll und es fehlt an nichts. Wir kommen gerne wieder!

We were looking for peace and quiet, near to nature and to those quaint little towns like Haarlem and Leiden. We found it at „Aan Zee & Duin“, owned and run by the lovely couple, Helga & Joost Bouwmeester, north of Noordwijkerhout, near the seaside nature reserve with forests and grown-over dunes. They both made us feel at home immediately: Dutch hospitality extraordinaire.
Having booked their studio apartment for 7 days on the basis of the excellent reviews they have earned themselves, we opted for their studio apartment. For the two of us it suited us very well indeed, from size to facilities.
The bathroom is of the usual size for B&B: we never had the feeling it being cramped. This feeling was enhanced by the bright lights in it, we suppose. It has modern German fittings with glazed rounded sliding doors to the shower, which has a thermostat fitting. My wife fell in love with the heated towel rail.
A double bed has two separate mattresses of just the right softness and without any “rift valleys” in-between. There are two bedside reading lamps which can be adjusted not to disturb your partner. There's ample space in the cupboard with enough (wooden) coat hangers and even 3 drawers. The kitchenette has a large (silent) fridge, a twin-plate hob, single bowl sink, filter coffee machine and all cutlery and crockery you'll need. The large modern flat-screen TV runs with a satellite receiver. The lights are ample and cosy.
We opted for having breakfast delivered by Helga: It was more than we could eat, it was fresh and tasty, and it varied from day to day. They have four (absolutely silent) brown hens (no cock) providing the house each day with fresh, tasty eggs too. Treat yourself to the breakfast extra: it's worth every cent. This we enjoyed at the large round wooden table under an elegant Tiffany lamp. Special wishes are swiftly attended to by Helga, who is a charming fully trained tourism specialist, speaking about all Western European languages.
And its so quiet at night: no cars to be heard (the apartment is also at the far north-westerly corner of the house). In the morning one hears birds announcing the new day in the background.
Go through the west-facing glazed external door and door height sidelight to a little garden, with lawn and flower beds, screened around by hedges with birds nests in it. There is a wooden bench, two cushioned garden loungers, a table and two chairs.
Joost was a businessman before, who opted to follow his real passion: flora and fauna of the unspoiled nearby nature reserves, as both a journalist and photographer with his own unique style. Our hosts gave us very useful tips where to walk and cycle. Without their guidance we would never have found those beautiful hidden little gems of nature and culture.
Any criticism? Yes, our week was far too short; one actually needs at least 2 weeks to really see and experience everything their “Bollenstreek” has to offer! And we forgot to bring along a navigation unit.
All in all: One of the most friendliest B&Bs we've ever been to on the Continent.

Ik heb een aantal kortere periodes in de B&B doorgebracht. Ik vond de service uitstekend. Zeer gezellige en vriendelijke eigenaren. De B&B ligt aan de voet van het duinengebied, vlak aan de zee dus. Ik ben zeer tevreden over deze B&B en ga zeker nog terug.
