Sleeping in an idyllic setting in Friesland
Looking for nice but cheap accommodation for one or a few days in northern Friesland, then our cabins are for you. The original six-sided Finnish kota's are completely free and sheltered in our lovely tea garden on the outskirts of Twijzelerheide. Dokkum and Leeuwarden are about 15 km away. The garden is located directly on a brilliant ANWB cycling route of 44 km. Less than 100 meters away are two great trout fishing lakes. Train station 3 km. distance. The kota’s are simple but tastefully decorated. They feature a hot plate, microwave and basic utensils. Guests have a private terrace with a seat. It can be used on site toilet and shower. There is a wood-fired sauna (€ 15, -). For € 5, - per day you can rent a bike. Chilled drinks, € 1 - are always there!

The kota’s are simple, but tastefully decorated. They feature a 2-person mattress, hot plate, microwave and basic utensils. TV via Digitenne present. The price includes self-service breakfast! Frisian take a way lunch € 6, - p.p.

Positive Experiences
Mr & Mms Kooistra are very welcoming people. We spent two nights in their Kota (wich are so lovely). We appreciate the breakfast, the hygiene of the toilets and the shower and the welcoming tea break. We recommend the Kota's experience for couples who want to have, like us, an experience in the heart of the countryside. Twijzelerheide is a lovely burg and not far from Groningen. Oh and the Mrs Kooistra's Cakes are really delicious... you have to taste them !!!
For improvement
The bed was made with 2 mattresses. The separation between both bothered us a little because it hangs in the loin area. And maybe an other blanket for colder nights.

This was a fantastic weekend away - really cool little cottage and great price for a different experience. It is a little more like camping than a hotel though, so as long as you know what to expect, you'll love it!!!
For improvement
It got a little cold in the room so perhaps putting a heater in it would make it more comfortable? Couldn't get wifi from the room either, but it was available in the tea rooms close by.
