The Netherlands with it's extensive network of cycle lanes and routes, are best explored by bike ! ' The Achterhoek ' is a region situated in the east of the Netherlands, close to the German border and is a region of extreme beauty, a gentle landscape of meadows surrounded by woodlands, home to lots of wildlife, which is ideal for long or short walks or picturesque bike rides. Close to our B&B, a gentle stream named The Berkel enters the Netherlands, which can be explorded by canoe or an idyllic old wooden boat. All kinds of transport can be hired locally, including (electric) bikes, mountain bikes, tandems, scooters and canoes. There is also a local bus service available. The Achterhoek is full of historical cities, castles, old (water)mills, a variety of museums including the Mondriaan Huis.
