The front facade of the building is listed, we preserve its original style. We have been unable to establish the exact age of the house as the city archives only provide information from 1906 and our house dates from before this time. Drawings from the local authority show an extension to our property in 1871.
Opposite n29 stands a monument building (the first social housing in Amsterdam) constructed in 1672 for the weaver population, so the front part of the house could have been constructed any time after. It’s probable that the original house was connected at the rear to a larger property on the Prinsengracht and would likely have contained servants quarters and space for a horse and carriage.
