De Pionier Lelystad
- B&B
- 2 rooms
Spending the night at De Pionier is an overnight stay with a historical touch.
Spend the night in a room that exudes history, the history of the reclamation and the origin of, among others, Lelystad and the polder in general.
The pioneer dates from 1952 and has served as a hospital barracks, first aid post and the doctor lived in this house with his family. These houses are known as the stone camp and the masonry of these houses is unique. This was done because stones were scarce and less stones were needed in this way.
There is plenty to tell about this property and there are plenty of fun anecdotes to tell.
The pioneer is located on the well-known work island of Lelystad and has therefore been a real island.
The work island is located on a large sandbank and is approximately 7 meters above the other homes in Lelystad.
At the end of 1954, the work island was only accessible via the Knardijk from Harderwijk and the island was finished and the reclamation of what is now Flevoland.
